So excited!!!

I think this is my first post without a picture, but I think it's an important one. Tonight was my first Faith Formation class. I signed up to teach/volunteer at my church several weeks ago and knew I'd really enjoy doing something with children and so it began.

Faith Formation are classes held by the church and go from grades 1-9. It prepares children for life in the Catholic Church. They attend once a week for a little over an hour and I get to teach them. Honestly, I know I will learn more by "teaching" than maybe the kids and that is what I am so excited about. My passion is to give my time freely in service and I think this will be a good place to do this. I LOVE children too so that will make it easier. I am teaching 4th graders and I am so blessed to have this opportunity.

Most of the kids were fabulous, but I already feel that I will be challenged with a couple of them. The infamous "undisciplined" boys. OH MY?!? The thought of "what have I gotten myself into" crossed my mind several times. Of course, not having any children of my own (nieces don't count I've been told) I am not sure how to discipline them so please pray for me. haha I have a feeling that I'll be sharing some very interesting stories throughout the year. For example, when I asked them if they had questions I got some off the wall questions like "what do we do if a very strange animal comes in here and attacks us?" Now tell me HOW do you answer that?

What's cookin?

Growing up, Sundays were reserved for family where we would go to church and then eat all day. I loved that then and I love it now. Although, we don't have family around us we do have a group of friends that fill that void. So for this Labor Day weekend we decided to have a Sunday brunch at one of their houses. There were 8 of us. Thanks for hosting Mr. & Mrs. Kuykendall!!

First course: Mimosa and Bloody Marys
Kevin & Maggie's french toast with my bacon in the backgroundDax and Jessica made some sausage gravy and biscuits. This is probably my favorite breakfast food. I grew up on it so it's nostalgic.

I made quiche with spinach, broccoli, tomato and mozzarella.
Maggie's delicious breakfast enchiladas with eggs, sausage, cheese sauce and well you see the rest.

Of course, we had some healthy food. Oh wait, does it count if it was put on top of the french toast with syrup & cool whip? Good choice Christy & Brian!
The result is my plate...I mean plates. Yup, I started with 2 plates because I couldn't fit it all on 1. Chad had a little bit more etiquette by just having one plate at a time. Who could blame him?

That was the highlight of our Labor Day weekend!!! We think it may become a monthly thing.

Cousin weekend

Last weekend one of my twin cousins, Jennifer and her husband, Brandon came down to fish. It was a short weekend trip as they got here Friday night and left Sunday morning, but we sure did get a lot in it seemed. I've lost our memory card for our camera so I have to borrow pics they took:

I just love this pic. He looks so sweet.

While Chad does the above work, I do this. Actually this is what I usually do heading out....considering it is before sunrise.
We found this little fish floating in the water dead so what do I do....net em of course. It smelled so bad and you can kind of see it in their smiles. Sorry guys!

She seems to be focused on something
This is her first catch and she was screaming really loud and thought she couldn't get the fish up. She reminds me so much of me, it's funny.

This was one of the last kings we caught...well Brandon fought it and just as it was about to be gaft a shark came up and bit half of it off. Brandon was bummed because it would have been a nice size.

1 of the 13 bonito we caught. They were hitting left and right, mainly in pairs.

This is probably one of the funniest pictures "BLOOD ON YOUR FACE A BIG DISGRACE."
